Joseph Farruggia
Founder & CEO, Cannabis Investor News and CanIDeal
Joseph Farruggia is the founder and CEO of Cannabis Investor News (CIN) and CanIDeal, a B2B e-commerce platform for the legal cannabis industry. A serial entrepreneur with three decades of experience spanning capital markets, technology, and entertainment, he has built and exited companies across multiple sectors.
Farruggia launched Money World Magazine and the Money World Investment Conferences in the late 1980s, building one of the period's prominent independent investor-relations platforms.
He later served as Investor Relations Specialist at Atlantic Capital Corp. and Wall Street Marketing Group, directing capital raises for companies listed on NASDAQ and NYSE American (formerly AMEX).
He co-founded Café.com Wi-Fi, the pioneer of corporate-branded wireless internet for the restaurant sector. Café.com built and operated Denny's Wireless Internet and deployed Wi-Fi for IHOP, Dunkin' Donuts, hotels, and coffeehouses nationwide before being acquired by ICOA, Inc. in 2005.
A produced screenwriter, Farruggia worked alongside Academy Award–winning filmmaker Roger Corman (Honorary Award, Lifetime Achievement).
His credits include Baby Face Nelson (1996), co-starring Academy Award winner F. Murray Abraham as Al Capone; Born Bad (1997), starring James Remar and Corey Feldman; and Spiders (2013), featuring an early starring turn by Sydney Sweeney — now an Emmy nominee — as the young girl whose rescue drives the film's central arc.
In 2016 he founded CanIDeal, the first legal B2B e-commerce marketplace for the cannabis industry, connecting cultivators, processors, manufacturers, and distributors across all U.S. recreational and medical markets.
He launched Cannabis Investor News in 2026 as the global cannabis equities terminal — covering 123 cannabis companies across 6 regions and 10 exchanges with daily AI-generated market briefs, real-time pricing, SEC and SEDAR filings, and the proprietary Cannabis Market Health Index (CMHI).
